I always find it sad when a former "great" performer is reduced to playing bush-league venues (we had the Pretenders at a local bar recently), or worse taking some manual labor job (e.g. longshoreman like Troxel). I wonder if the former stars feel bad about it? "I was on top of the world now look at me?" Or maybe they realize stardom is fleeting, and are happy with their lives for other reasons than being on top of the charts.Still, Gary Troxel had such a wonderful voice back in the late 1950s and early 1960s -- he should be singing, not slinging.
