* This song was previously recorded by "Little" Jimmy Osmond, youngest sibling of Donny, Marie, and 7 others. It was released as the B side of LONG HAIRED LOVER FROM LIVERPOOL, a #1 hit single in the UK in 1972, when Jimmy was 9 years old.
Westenra's recording comes from an album called "Hayley Sings Japanese Songs 2" (2009). I suspect that means some version of MOTHER OF MINE, maybe Osmond's, was previously a hit in Japan.
I couldn't identify the songwriter. It's difficult because there are several other songs with the same title.
