Very sorry for the sciatica, Jacqui, but glad to hear you are home safe and sound. The timing was bad weather-wise and I was concerned about you continuing to head south. Southern States, for obvious reasons, don't have the equipment to quickly and efficiently get slick or icy roads well cleared quickly. That is the main reason just a few inches of snow, or a mediocre ice storm has such an impact.
