Living in Rossendale now I can confirm that Pendle is too far north for either sunrise or sunset to occur behind it, but it gets quite close to the sunset condition mid-summer if you are at the pub "The Deerplay" which is right at the northern extent of Rossendale. You certainly get some sunset coloured sky behind it and I have photos to prove it!
