"Starship Troopers"

Just watched it again for the first time since it's 1997 cinema release....

.. and this loud lurid exciting blood splattered comic book political satire
still remains the greatest ever of the big overblown popcorn CGI space sci fi romps.

Paul Verhoeven's most inspired big budget 'American' movie,
and his wicked subversive European sense of humour gleefully exploits all the best and worst cliches
from the post war abundance of hollywood military battle movies.

The sequence paying homage to "Zulu" is a special bonus for any big kid of a 'certain' age...

In 1997 this was the first truly 'convincing' high quality CGI FX movie
and nearly 15 years older, it still looks fresh and spectacularly superior
to current mundane conformist formulaic 'epic' movie productions.
