And, now, may I have a drum roll?

Just after lunch, my cell rang and I heard a familiar voice..sounding stronger than I expected. It was Spaw himself!! He sounded strong because he was using a device over the trach hole. He didn't last for very long...got worn out and the docs came in, so we had to say goodbye, but it was so good to just hear him. Definitely on the mend, slow, very slow, but still in the right direction. He thinks he may be out of that place by the end of next week on to the next as this one is geared towards medical rehab and he's now almost ready for mostly physical rehab. Karen will catch me up on that later.

My cell phone quality is not the best, so I missed a lot of what he said, but I know he has been around the room with a walker. Also, he got a little anxious and asked me to let you all know that it may be quite awhile before he gets back on here; he mentioned the amount of energy it takes. I told him he is not to feel ANY pressure from us that we're all here holding the fort, etc. NOT to worry about it. I told him the laptop was for mp3 listening, movie watching, and talking with his family via skype. I think I may have blown it. I thought Karen had already told him about it, but he obviously was "gobsmacked" when he asked me to repeat what I'd said about what you are doing, Dan. And, you, Rapparee. I'll have to tell Karen sorry. She said she'd call me later tonight. Since the docs were there I am guessing I'll have more news about all of that, too.

Phew! My heart is a lot happier, now. Lots of Thanks givings being sent up!
