Interesting to see the reference to the Apocolypse - first verse of the version of Jordan that got to this side of the Atlantic goes:

I looked to the East, I looked to the West,
I saw John Bull coming according,
With six white horses, flyinging through the clouds,
To look at the other side of Jordan
