One of my contacts in York is photographing headstones for that resource. The chancel of the church is mediaeval (it had a major rebuild an enlargement in the early 19thC) but there are tales of a Norman archway being found then. Cetainly there are some chevron carved stones incorporated in and around the present chancel arch, and 2 worn animal/Agnus Dei type figures in stones to the left. They are facing each othre, so may have been either side of something once.

Didn't get much exercise yesterday apart from eventually building the small flat-pack shelves and side table I bought last month, and which have been propped up in the bedrooms. Now the shelves are up, I can get the "best" children's books out of the box. I have to make a plan with regard to all the old photo albums, which are still boxed up in the spare room.

I'm afraid it's ironing this morning.
