It's 2C here ar the moment, and it's starting to get dark. Somebody was mumbling about the proper cold weather coming back next week...Lovely! I got sick of shovelling last month. We're clear at the moment. I don't want any more Winter! Yesterday felt like Spring. then we had a hard frost last night, and it hasn't really warmed up much all day.

Anyway...had a builder round today. A local bloke. He did the estimate about 4 years ago, but can't remember what it was. However, he knows the architect, and how the planning regs all work. He's going to get as much info as he can, and says he'll probably get the quote to me in a ccouple of weeks. The going rate for new builds is about £1000 per square metre of floor. I have a 2 storey building with, as a guesstimate, about 25-30sq.m. Then there will be the cost of getting all the demolition off, and materials onto the site, as the access isn't very easy. He reckons the prics shouldn't be a lot different to what he quoted before, as materials and labour costs haven't changed much (although the VAT has just gone up to 20%). One thing though, I liked him as a person, which is a good start, I suppose.
