Grim stuff, Jack - but oddly fascinating at the same time, given that it couldn't have been so very long after the Salford footage and he doesn't look or play like a man with suicide on his mind. Ubiquitous in his day, and still crucial. I pick up the old vinyl whenever I see it. I think my favourite is the Gothic Era box with the Notre Dame Organum & Ars Nova stuff which still sets the bench mark to this day really.

Love the Royaume Oublie CD set (I've got a whole Ikea CD shelf devoted to my Alia Vox collection - my one of few indulgences) so the film is a blessing (even if does miss out Veris Dulcis which is a long standing favourite of mine) but of course the real treat is seeing Rene Zosso looking so sprightly. I did a piece about RZ for the Yorkshire folk magazing Stirrings - I'll feature it as a blog in a wee while...
