I heated my soup in glass, but in a microwave. Probably not much better than plastic. I'm thinking about getting a double boiler and a toaster oven and using the microwave less.

Taxes are still underway. Dug up medical bills. Also, I used the state and local tax calculator. It gives me the choice of two communities when I bring up my zip code; one is the village where I live, an enclave of Fort Worth that has no commercial activity except the Goodwill and a State Farm insurance office, and Fort Worth, where I do virtually all of my shopping and pay sales tax. If I were so foolish as to choose my village as the place I shop, I'd lose $100 in sales tax credit.

I take the dogs out every couple of hours and make sure they're set for the night so I don't have to get up before dawn. Last night I slept in the front room where the smaller furnace is - I woke up sweating because the dogs were on the futon, close-by my side. Those pooches really crank out the BTUs! I'll probably do that again tonight, and will leave that heater down also, to stay comfortable. I'm using a sleeping bag (inherited from my son, who outgrew it when he topped 6'). No way I'm putting good sheets on the futon with dog hair. Saturday it's supposed to get above freezing.

I have yet another snow day tomorrow - four days off in a week in Texas because of ice is unprecidented. There is a great graphic going around that really does describe what many of us are experiencing. I hope most of you can see it: Southerner's Enjoyment of Snow Over Time.
