I see that Manchester United have advised Gary that a role in the coaching side of the club will be available to him. He already spends a lot of time with the many young hopefuls that come to Man U and he passes on advice and assistance to help them settle into becoming possible players for the club. As a boy entrant himself he is well qualified to take this lead and the young future footballers are lucky to have such an experienced mentor.

As well as all his attributes as a dedicated footballer Gary has tried to keep his private life, just that.

He and his brother Philip ( another very good footballer) do a tremendous amount of work for children's charities.

As for the David Beckham comments, I know that there are differing views about his ablities as a footballer. Mine is that for most of his early career at Manchester United he was an excellent player who fitted ideally into the team plan.

Interestingly David and Gary are very good friends - indeed Gary was David's best man. They could not have widely differing personal lives !! Cheers
