Hi my name is Edgar, We have always raced match races here in Arizona & Mexico and any one that does match races knows this story to some extent and I believe we are all fascinated and inspired by it, My dad says he met Trini Ramirez when they had to leave because people thought the race was fixed. Every year for the passed 5 years there has been a stakes Race "EL Moro de Cumpas" in Douglas and this year it's in Tucson at Rillito Race track and its tomorrow 2/20/2011.
I was there today for a different race and I was introduced to an 87 (and 88 next month) year old man "Chendo Valenzuela" the man that rode el zino. He said that he will be there tomorrow to see the race.
I was thinking today when I met him, it doesn't matter who wins the EL Moro de Cumpas stake race every year, people will only remember the original horses and jockeys.
Every year I look up information on this famous race to really get excited and into it, and I do don't know why but I do and finding this website and reading though all the comments is pretty cool..
