Gnu, you could have had the kind of oil change I had a dozen years ago - I got it done after work, I drove home (20 miles) and on my drive back to work the next day, about 8 miles from the house, I looked in my mirror to see billows of smoke behind me. I pulled over immediately and called AAA. Then called my oil change shop, livid. Apparently a new guy (who was fired immediately) had done two jobs where he was negligent in putting the nut back in the drain hole. I stopped while there was still oil in the engine and it only took about $75 of work at the Ford place and a short tow to get there. The other guy had a really old truck but the engine burned up and they had to put in a new engine. Oil change place paid for the work and the tow.
