I think the 't' in "can't" seems to be lost because of the word tend that comes directly afterwards.

"I'll pawn you the news", makes little sense to me, but maybe it's some variant of lyric that have been used before somewhere.

"Don't believe I'm right, follow me tonight", makes more sense than my earlier guess and seems the most logical, but I can't hear that he's singing those words for some reason.
