Nothing better than a top quality electric blanket.

At foot level I have an eiderdown comforter, which I pull up on really old nights. Of course it's there to help on a mental level; the house is kept at 20 C. day and night.

Where did these duvets come from? A son and his wife have them on their beds. Terrible things.
When I visit, I look longingly at the rug on the floor.
