I traveled all over this country,
I lived in the best hotels,
Some were good some were bad some were lousy,
But most of the rooms looked like cells,
A room that I had was a pippin,
So neat so clean and so bright,
It was a wonder I didn't go crazy,
When I found out what we had for dinner that night,

On Monday we had bread and gravy,
On Tuesday we had gravy and bread,
On Wednesday and Thursday we had gravy and toast
But that's only gravy and bread,
On Friday I spoke to the landlord
To give us something else instead,
So on Saturday morning in slight of a change,
We had gravy without any bread.
