I heard this news yesterday from your mother and am so grieved for your loss (and feeling it deeply on a personal level). Your dad wrote to me about soapmaking in May of 2009 and it led to a delightful email correspondence on and off since then ... getting to meet your parents while I was on a garden tour in the U.K., Fall of 2009. I spent several hours chatting with them and exchanged soaps with your dad before we parted. He also brought a container of Welsh cakes he'd baked for the occasion. He was such an intelligent and engaging person. I loved his passion for learning, love of history, political rants... all of it. His emails were a high point of the day and I always learned something from him. I believe you are the eldest son and he spoke of you while we were at dinner... how talented and bright you are. (I'm sure he was proud of all of his children, but I remember that specific about you.)

Know that he will be missed on this side of the Atlantic as well as your own. He was a good man and you were blessed to have him as your father.
