Hi, Tom and Chris: I heard this sad news only last night, when Olly and I arrived at Llantrisant Folk Club. Malcolm was one in a million: I loved to hear his gruff, earthy, passionate, strong and strikingly original voice and his massive repertoire. A Llantrisant Folk Club member who worked in the catering trade, he soaked up songs like a sponge. His love of Rudyard Kipling will remain with me always; I watched open-mouthed while he delivered On The Road To Mandalay so perfectly.

Ned Clamp and Pat Smith have put this piece in the Llantrisant Folk Club website:

"Malcolm Davies, or "Malcolm over by there" as he was known at Llantrisant Folk Club, died of a severe heart attack on Saturday, February 26 2011. He will now be known as "Malcolm up by there" and will be sadly missed by all its members.

"His funeral will take place on Monday, March 14 at Wenallt Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff at 1.15pm, afterwards at the Church House Inn, Bedwas. Please bring instruments and voices to celebrate his life. His wife Chris has requested for no black to be worn, but feel free to wear coloured - also only family flowers. Donations can be made to a music charity via Paul Sartin."
