Thread Name: ADD: Bread and Gravy
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bread and Gravy
My Mom would sing this to us in the car on long car rides. It took me years to learn to sing it too. But I love this song. And now that my Mom is gone it is a good memory. Here is the way I learned to sing it:

We traveled all over the country
And we stayed in some lovely hotels.
Some were alike and some different,
And some were in rooms just like cells.
But the last one that we stayed at was a daisy.
The rooms were so clean and so neat.
But the one thing that drove us so crazy
Was what they gave us to eat.

On Monday we had bread and gravy.
On Tuesday we had gravy and bread.
On Wednesday and Thursday we had toast and gravy,
But that's still gravy and bread.
So on Friday I asked of the landlord,
"Could you please give us something instead?"
So on Saturday morning for a way of a change,
.... We had gravy without any bread.

That's how I remember it. Wish I could find out where it came from.
