There's a smallish town called Coldwater near here. It is commonly said to be the home of someone named "Dick Shrivels, from Coldwater"...but I digress. At any rate, Coldwater has a festival once a year when they release thousands of little plastic yellow duckies into the river that flows through town. Hundreds (thousands?) of people congregate to watch the duckies float down the river and you can buy tickets or something, as all the duckies are numbered, and if your duckie crosses the finish line first, you win a prize. I don't know what the prize is. The chances of your duckie winning are almost infinitesimal, so this encourages people to buy many tickets. I think. I've never bought a ticket, but I did see the duckies released one time, and it was quite something to witness. They covered the river in a merrily bobbing carpet of yellow. I have heard that one of those plastic duckies somehow made it all the way to China, having eluded the people who gather them up, gone all the way down the river to the Great Lakes, thence out the Saint Lawrence to the Atlantic, around Cape Horn, across the Pacific, finally making landfall several years later in China. That's perservance!
