Moonbeams presents Ewan McLennan.. with support from Holly Taymar..

Friday 22nd April 2011..

at The Bell Hotel, Driffield, East Yorkshire

Ewan McLennan has been making headlines over the last year, performing at festivals, clubs, and concert halls across the country.. and also winning the BBC Horizon Award at the 2011 BBC Folk Awards.. Of Ewan's singing BBC Radio 2's Mike Harding has said "he sings beautifully, with great sincerit...y, great empathy, he's terrific!", while his classical-influenced folk guitar playing has been described as "stunning". His music combines traditional music from around Britain and beyond, with a particular focus on the music of Scotland, where he was brought up. But Ewan retains a unique and compelling sound of his own in which traditional songs run parallel to his own earthy, self-penned songs.

'Only once in a while do you hear a new voice, a new sound that is really worth listening to. Ewan McLennan is definitely one such.'
Martin Simpson

'I was completely and utterly bowled over by Ewan's music...one of the most exciting new voices I've heard in years.'
Mike Harding, BBC Radio 2

and supporting Ewan this evening.....

Somewhere between folk, jazz and blues, lies the music of Holly Taymar.
With an achingly beautiful voice, delicate, finger picked acoustic guitar, a repertoire of unpretentious songs , a naturally warm stage presence and rapport with accompanist Christopher Bilton (mandolin, cajon, banjo, guitar, glockenspiel), Holly has truly earned her reputation as one of the North's most respected acoustic performers. Over the last few years, Holly has honed her live show and performed extensively in the UK including appearances at Stainsby Festival, Beverley Folk Festival and the Deer Shed Festival.

'One of the most distinctive voices in the Yorkshire area' Allan Wilkinson, Northern Sky, Feb 2011

'Endearingly lovely…an autotune-free zone, if you've ever seen her perform live, which I heartily recommend by the way, you'll know she really is THAT good…'
Matt Seymour, BBC Raw Talent, Feb 2011
