On a recent visit to a grocery store, I noticed that the self checkout clerk voice is much more polite than a regular clerk (please this, thankyou that). It threw me off.

I made a suggestion. Customers should be able to adjust the politeness level to match the level of politeness/rudness of the clerks normally serving customers. That way, you would get the normal experience when visiting the store.
