My American Army days. When we were in the field, the cooks boiled coffee in 55 gallon garbage cans. Beyond morning coffee, it was also the ONLY hot water we had to shave with. We'd drink half a canteen cup (one quart)and then use the rest to make shaving lather. After we shaved, we drank the remaining lather/coffee.
