My recommendations for 'classic' cds would be The Old Hat Band for that East Anglian sound and the Band of the Rising Sun for the northern sort of sound.

After listening to Mary Humphreys and Anahata playing tunes brilliantly at our Ryburn Spring Sing last night, I'm prompted to recommend their album of dance music with Nick and Mary Barber, playing under the name of English Rebellion.
