I have a very large stock pot to can quart jars that is really wide and heavy, and I know it wouldn't work on those glass top stoves. My stove has its moments when it doesn't seem to heat as well on the front burners, and it is in line to be the next appliance replaced in the house. Not urgent, but it on the radar. Even if I don't replace it right away, simply having this conversation about alternative methods for heating that much water is useful. Canning in July and August means you heat the house so much when it's already a scorcher out of doors. Better to find a way to keep all of the heat outside.
