SRS, my granddad on my mom's side was always making things of wood. I have the neatest sewing notions cabinet he made. It's kind of like a steamer trunk, though smaller, in that it stands with a handle on top and opens up like a book. It has several rows of spindles for spools of thread and two deep "pockets" on either side for tucking other notions. Not super practical in this day and age, but my mom used it a lot and I still have some of her notions in it, plus an antique lubricant can which she used as did my grandma, though grandma sewed most of her stuff by hand.

I, too, am tired of bins I cannot see through to see what is where. I am thinking of going through each closet, first, with clear bins, like LtS has touted from the UK, to consolidate and make it easier to find things. Also, so that they will stack more uniformly.

All I have accomplished today is a load of laundry and getting the socks beat off of me in several hands of UNO with Morgan.:-)
