IMO, part of the problem happens when teachers blindly follow policy. Policy is a corporate word for "I don't have to think." That posits that someone somewhere has mandated a set of curriculums (or curricula) and everyone has bought into it. And if ya don't, bad things will happen.

If you want to change schools, get elected. Then make good decisions.

Education has been let down not by the ineptitude of teachers, but rather by the quest within society to mass produce or produce to order graduates. People just ain't like that. We are washing our hopes up on the shore.
