There is discussion in England re 23rd April being made a Bank Holiday, and folk being permitted to fly the cross of St George flag. (Apparently it's not PC to do so, in case one is inciting racism and supporting fascist movements such as the BNP) We could, having obtained the All Clear, turn it into a super Plastic English Day. Parades, everyone in red and white etc. I'd be thrilled, as no doubt Morris dancers of all types would be everywhere. I see nothing wrong with a bit of benign nationalism, it fortifies identity and brings communities together. I don't see it as 'thumbing the nose' at other groups. Can't we be proud to be English?
