Plastic Paddies fall into two categories--those just wanting to brawl, drink and hubbub who will take any excuse to do so, and those genuinely sympathetic to Irish causes, sentiments, or arts.
I don't mind the latter--in a spirit of bonhomie, everyone is Irish on Saint Paddy's.
The latter are just typical barflies, animal-like, and best avoided.
