This has been a year in which we now fully understand that the Chinese remark of "may you live in interesting times" is truly a curse. (I heard this was a Chinese curse. It may apply to many cultures - they tend to repeat the smart stuff.)

I'm hoping one pass of cancer is all I have to deal with. And that the rest of you get over and move on from it. Cancer scares the shit out of you, but it also makes you a better person, because you realize you have another chance to do things right. It means you don't CARE if people know how old you are on your birthday, because you're just so glad to have another one!
