You are right! I have some friends (a married couple) with one daughter and they both were not athletic at all. They did not even watch sports on TV or ever attend sporting type events.
They didn't discourage sports but didn't push it on their daughter either.

Somehow their daughter just took an interest on her own and did very well in gymnastics and other sports. Sometimes you will find athletic kids have parents who are really into sports or at least one of them but in this case both parents were not sports type people. So I do know what you mean. Glad to hear your granddaugher has taken the interest in the pipes!!
