Subject: RE: Tech: Adobe won't download! Help Please
About the only "standard boiler-plate comment" that might be applicable is that a pop up that requests that you "click here" to go anywhere needs to be treated with some suspicion.

Although sites that use Adobe Reader and Flash wouldn't generally send you to a phony place, even those kinds of places can be, and occasionally are, infected with phony links.

Your comment indicates that the link you clicked did actually take you to the Adobe download site, and odds are pretty good that it actually did go to the right place; but since you had trouble with the download it might be worthwhile to try going directly to adobe.com (without using someone else's link) and try it again there.

Recent Reader and Flash updates have required reboots to complete installation, but I don't recall whether a reboot was indicated for a "new" Flash installation. An attempt to install while the page you click from is trying to open Flash could cause a conflict that wouldn't be present if you went directly to the http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ site with no other browser pages open.

And if the download still fails, at least you'd be at Adobe which is perhaps the better place to look for help (although the probability of Adobe actually being helpful has been declining since they acquired Flash).
