Not quite the same thing I know but living on the Isle of Wight with 2 school leavers in the end I had to go back to the mainland to get more options and choice of work. The work is mostly seasonal, care work or jobshare if you are lucky, majority DHS. Bus travel was and probably still is extortionate and I would hate to think about how much petrol and oil on the island costs now, then there is the snag of the ferry prices getting to and from each time. Staying there would not have been any good to us at that time as much as we loved it so back we came. Of course I could have taken the hydrofoil or ferry to Southampton but that would have cost a fortune. It is possible that I might go back live in the way off future but as it is now, no.
