You can play or download this recording at The Internet Archive. It's song #8 on that page. Here's my transcription. Note that it contains a "verse" not previously reported.

THE FAIRY ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE
As sung by Gracie Fields, 1939.

§ Ev'ry little girl would like to be
The fairy on the Christmas tree,
Up above the party, dressed in white,
Shining in the candle light.

Every little boy has lots of fun,
With his trumpet and his gun.
Every little girl, you understand,
Is really queen of Fairy Land.

Big golliwogs,
Wee woolly dogs,
Big beautiful bears—
Most any boy
Loves any toy.
No little girl cares.

There's a little secret she must keep:
That she can fly when she's asleep.
Every little girl would like to be
The fairy on the Christmas tree. §§

Autumn days are over, past, and very soon
Mother turns the lights up in the afternoon.
Children talk of Christmas. Brother wonders what
Santy Claus will put into the stocking on his cot.
Sister may be silent but she thinks an awful lot.

[Repeat § to §§.]
