BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Ñ Indiana University's underwater archaeology program is getting a $1 million grant from the Eli Lilly & Co. Foundation.

The Herald-Times reports Wednesday the grant will go to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis to support expeditions to the Dominican Republic led by Indiana underwater archaeologist Charles Beeker.

The award and partnership with the Bloomington university will allow The Children's Museum to feature a 310-year-old cannon recovered by Beeker from Captain Kidd's ship, the Cara Merchant.
