No, LePage is the other model. He grew up in a poor dysfunctional family and made good. Therefore he thinks everyone else should be able to make it on their own.

He did sort of adopt a young Black boy from a poor Jamaican family while he was there on vacation, brought him back to Maine and has paid for his education. So he doesn't lack empathy on some level. But he's also overly ambition to make his mark at the national level in conservative Republican circles. I somehow don't think whatever success he achieves at that level will be worth the cost.

We'll just have to find another public place for the mural, assuming we can get our hands on it.
