I would never want to put forward my name in defending Harper, but it was Mulroney with his free trade deal that gave us away. Cretien was elected with a promise to tear it up. Instead he enhanced it and included Mexico.
I do however fear a desire by Harper to open the border to profit driven privatized health care from the USA! I have family members who are USA citizens and so I desire a very open border to travel but Canada should and must protect its economic independence!
