Technical point:

SD cards have rather limited capacity, and older devices may not be able to use SDHC (high capacity) cards. Your 16GB card is definitely an SDHC and not an SD, but what your device can use is another matter. The only sure way to find out whether the device is SDHC capable is to RTFM - or check the specs on the maker's website.

Once you know that the device can use the high capacity cards, it's still possible to find SD cards for sale, sometimes with outrageously dishonest capacity labels, so you need to be careful about what you buy, and get in the habit of using the proper full name for what you want.
