My wife has reading glasses scattered all over the house. There are two pairs by the computer (I don't know why), one pair by the phone downstairs, one on the nightstand by the bed, one next to each of the two chairs she sometimes sits in, one in the car, and probably one in her purse. But she often doesn't carry her purse when she goes out, so I end up reading menus to her in restaurants.

She refuses to wear glasses on a string around her neck. She thinks it will make her look old. I ask her, how old do you think you look when you hold the menu at arm's length and squint?

Me, I started wearing glasses when I was 12 years old and switched to bifocals when I was in my 40s. I never take them off except in bed or when I take a shower. Much less hassle that way.
