Jim I have glasses all round the place as well. I just bought a new pair to live beside the telly so I can read the TV guide in a hurry, without having to search the house. They're only el-cheapo $5 jobs.
And when I'm driving, the radio has to be turned down when I'm approaching a tricky intersection, so I can concentrate on what I'm seeing. Once we're through I can cope with it being louder.
I think eyes and ears are co-ordinated in concerts or watching telly etc but when you're really listening to something or someone you're less likely to notice what's going on around you, and when you're looking at something, like the computer screen, your ears are almost switched off.
