As someone mentioned above, when I'm driving and find myself in a tricky location, looking for an address at night, or looking for the little side street where I'll need to turn with little warning, I turn the radio off.

We don't REALLY multitask, we switch back and forth from one mental job to another. When there's a need for concentration, getting rid of the distraction of listening to the radio really does yield a noticeable improvement in concentration power.

Did you ever notice that when you have a full bladder and are heading for "the necessary room", you often can't concentrate well enough to figure out the answer to even a very simple question from a bystander? I've often experienced that.
