A girlfriend once asked me if her new dress looked OK.
I said it looks good to me, and added, but, I'm not wearing my glasses, or contacts.

It did not seem to go over well, at the time. But, she told me she told this story later to girlfriends, with a giggle, when they were discussing "stupid men".
