Actually, I think that when something "feels" true or untrue, it can be a pretty good gauge - especially on the untrue side. I've often come to a conclusion after lengthy and complicated reasoning, but still had the uneasy feeling that my conclusion was incorrect. Further research proved my intuition.

I think it's a good idea to rely on a COMBINATION of rational thinking and intuition, and to remember that neither is infallible.

Can't say I believe in the infallibility of anyone, myself. I try to be always open to new perspectives.
