(1a) A bundle, a little pack; a parcel. Also collect. Occas. in pl. Baggage (of a company of men).
(b) The omasum, or third stomach, of ruminants
(2a) A collection, 'lot', parcel (of immaterial things).
(b) esp. A burden or load of sin, sorrow, etc.
(3) That in which something is wrapped; a wrapping, wrapper.
Used in a sentence in a1616 by Shakespeare:
"There lyes such Secrets in this Farthell and Box, which none must know but the King."
"Mom could be alternatively titled "The Fardel of Nonsense" but it would be a less vivid moniker and her children would not care for the name change."
