As you say, the cello is definitely more audible on the other tracks.

I think it's a good addition and deserves to be heard. (A lot of cello players in folk are way too reticent. Have you heard Neil Johnstone's cello playing on Pete Clark's CD "The Birnam Oak"? - that's a good antidote).
