I have vacationed there many times, and many locations since the early 1980's. It has great climate. and great potential. It seems like you are stepping back in time (not a bad feeling, at all). People are friendly, seem educated, and it is safe to go just about anywhere, anytime. There are shortages, I suspect to some degree due to political/economic factors. However, it seemed mostly to be for consumer goods, rather then lifes needs, as people do not seem hungry, nor lacking in education or health care. I did not see extreme contrasts living standards, like I have often seen in other countries in the area. Great place to visit, as with other places. But, home is always home. The food is OK
BTW, every type of food is available to visiters at the hotels, resorts and tourist shopping areas, including pizza, and unhealthy fries and burgers, with cheese, if you want. Just not with the burger names, like McDonalds that we all cannot live without:)
