It can be done rather easily with Audacity. There is a white box with a little arrow about midway the toolbar. This needs to be set on Wave to record from the computer. If you are using Audacity, you already know this, but there is a plug in that allows exporting to MP3. The quality of this export is not the best but most likely good enough for what you would like to do.
