I don't know what it's like in Cuba but I have a glimpse of what it's like in a capitalist paradise for those who are sick and poor (and in this capitalist paradise, being sick often means you are doomed to poverty)
I still believe most Americans are middle class; but it doesn't mean that the poor and struggling working class, seniors, disabled, etc do not exist. The right wing is trying to dismantle Medicare(!) of all things; not to mention thwart Universal Health care. No tax hikes for the rich on the horizon of course. Most of the wall streeters who caused the economic meltdown are experiencing the best of times ever, with six figure bonuses, as states scrambled to kick out older teachers (too much money to pay for the tenured who paid their dues ), dismantle health care, close senior centers, etc etc.
