"I don't think there has been much passing of traffic going south to Cuba" Of course there hasn't - we live in rich countries made rich by plundering countries like Cuba (though there are plenty of places in the US far more deprived than the poor of Cuba - ask anybody who can't afford medical care), and we don't live under a permanent threat of invasion by an aggressive nuclear neighbour. Nor do we have to live in a country impoverished by political and economic blackmail as do the Cuban people. Anybody with the náive idea idea that the US has any interest whatever in introducing democracy into Cuba - forget it. America's intentions have never gone beyond returning the land to the dozen families who owned it before they were kicked out on their fat arses - that's feudalism, not democracy. Jim Carroll
